Cancellation policy codes¶
This section provides an updated list of cancellation policy codes and their descriptions available in Booking.com.
You can use all the policy codes outlined under Using cancellation policy codes when creating or updating a policy for a property. However, Booking.com assigns certain policies internally and you cannot actively assign these policies. They are listed under Booking.com internal cancellation policy codes for completeness sake.
Booking.com offers free and non-free cancellations. The cancellation codes are further categorised at a high-level based on when the booking is cancelled before or on the day of arrival.
Obsolete policies are no longer available
This section has been revised to include only active policies that Booking.com currently supports. All obsolete policies as of May 10, 2021 were removed for clarity.
Using cancellation policy codes¶
You can use these codes when creating or updating a policy for a property.
- Before the arrival date.
• Policy with 100% penalty after reservation/deadline (Non-refundable)
• Policies with 100% penalty after deadline
• Policies with 50% penalty after deadline
• Policy with 50% penalty after reservation
• Policies with penalty after deadline in nights
• Policy with penalty after reservation in nights
• Fully Flexible policy with no penalty - On or after the arrival date.

Policies before the day of arrival¶
This section describes the cancellation policies for cancellations that take place before the day of arrival (before 12AM on day of arrival). To see the cancellation policy details for cancellations on the day of arrival (after 12AM), see the cancellations on day of arrival.
- Code refers to the integer associated with the cancellation policy.
- Penalty (%) after reservation refers to the percentage of the total price that is charged to the guest if they cancel after reservation.
- Penalty after reservation (nights) refers to the amount of nights that are charged to the guest if they cancel after reservation.
- Deadline (D) specifies the cancellation deadline in days before the arrival date (12AM). A penalty occurs when a guest makes a cancellation in any number of days less than the number specified.
- Deadline (H) specifies the cancellation deadline in hours before the arrival date (12AM). A penalty occurs when a guest makes a cancellation in any number of hours less than the number specified.
- Penalty (%) after deadline refers to the percentage of the total price that is charged to the guest if they cancel when the number of days or hours (before arrival) is less than the number specified in Deadline (D or H).
- Penalty (nights) after deadline refers to the amount of nights that are charged to the guest if they cancel when the number of days or hours (before arrival) is less than the number specified in Deadline (D or H).
