Sunsetting HTTP 1.0 support for all API endpoints

We have deprecated and will sunset HTTP 1.0 support in our platform on August 31, 2023. We have made this decision after carefully considering the risks associated with continuing to support this outdated protocol.

HTTP 1.0 is a very old protocol and lacks many of the improvements in HTTP 1.1 that is now considered standard in modern web applications. For example, HTTP 1.0 does not support persistent connection which results in a heavy performance penalty in terms of latency and throughput.

What's happening?

Booking.com will no longer support HTTP 1.0 for all API endpoints. After the sunsetting, any HTTP 1.0 requests will be rejected with an HTTP status 426, Upgrade Required response.

When is it happening?

This change is going into effect on August 31, 2023. Users are required to upgrade to a newer version of HTTP, such as HTTP 1.1 or HTTP 2.0, to avoid any issues.
